FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about WakeWin.

Is WakeWin free?

Yes. WakeWin is free to download and use on iOS. The core alarm, brain puzzles, motion gate, and base lottery tickets (for personal stats and streaks) are all free. A Premium tier (€5.99 / month or €39.99 / year) adds Photo Verify, bonus tickets, advanced sleep insights, the Perfect Month reward, and — most importantly — entry into the monthly prize drawing. Free users earn tickets for their own progression but those tickets are not entered into the draw.

How does the prize draw work?

Each puzzle you solve earns lottery tickets — Easy = 1 per puzzle, Medium = 2, Hard = 3 — across the puzzles you solve per alarm (10 in standard mode, 15 in Hard Mode). Streak multipliers compound that: 1× under 7 consecutive days, 1.25× from day 7, 1.5× from day 14, 1.75× from day 30, 2× from day 60 onwards. Tickets are awarded for the first successfully dismissed alarm each day only. Premium subscribers additionally earn bonus tickets for any puzzles solved beyond the minimum within the minimum challenge duration. On the 1st of each month, multiple winners are drawn from the Premium ticket pool, weighted by ticket count.

What are the prizes?

Real prizes — physical goods, gift cards, and experiences. We update the prize pool monthly. You'll see the current prizes inside the app. This isn't digital confetti or in-app coins.

What is Photo Verify?

Photo Verify is WakeWin's anti-snooze feature. After solving the puzzles, the alarm asks you to photograph a specific household object — toilet, kitchen sink, coffee maker, etc. Claude Haiku 4.5 Vision verifies the photo. If it doesn't see the object, you get a new one to photograph (up to 3 attempts). It's a Premium feature, required automatically when Hard Mode is on. Photos are never stored — only the verdict.

What is Hard Mode?

Hard Mode is a global setting in your profile that makes every alarm fire under stricter rules: 15 puzzles minimum (instead of 10), 90 seconds minimum challenge time, Medium+ difficulty floor, a 30-second window to start, motion verification required, Photo Verify required (Premium). It's designed for users who want to guarantee a real wake-up.

What is the motion gate?

Before the alarm can be dismissed, WakeWin uses your iPhone's pedometer (Core Motion) to confirm you've physically moved — at least 1 metre or 3 steps. This prevents the 'solve the puzzle in bed and fall back asleep' pattern. The motion gate is included in the free tier.

What is Perfect Month?

Perfect Month is a Premium reward: complete every alarm at the highest standard for a full calendar month (10 specific criteria — Hard Mode on, no snoozes, 80%+ completion, motion verified, etc.) and your next month of Premium is free. It's designed to be genuinely hard. See /perfect-month for the full list of criteria.

Does WakeWin work on silent mode?

Yes. WakeWin uses Apple's AlarmKit — the same system-level API the built-in Clock app uses — so it fires through Silent Mode, Focus modes, Sleep Focus, and Do Not Disturb. It also works when the app is force-quit. This requires iOS 26 or later.

What phones does WakeWin support?

iOS only at launch. WakeWin requires iPhone running iOS 26 or later for full AlarmKit support. iPad is supported in 'Designed for iPhone' mode (single-column portrait). Android is on the roadmap but not yet available.

What kinds of puzzles are there?

Six types: mental arithmetic, word scrambles, number sequences, memory challenges, pattern recognition, and Stroop tests. You solve 10 puzzles to dismiss each alarm (15 in Hard Mode). The mix varies each morning so it doesn't feel repetitive.

Can I choose the difficulty?

Yes, per alarm. Easy, Medium, or Hard — and you can set different difficulties for different alarms. Harder difficulty means more tickets per puzzle (1 / 2 / 3). When global Hard Mode is on, every alarm runs at Medium+ minimum.

What is Sleep Intelligence?

If you connect Apple Health and use a compatible wearable (Apple Watch, Oura Ring, Whoop, Garmin, etc.), WakeWin pulls your sleep quality data and correlates it with your puzzle performance. You'll see patterns like 'you score 40% better after 7+ hours' and find your personal sleep sweet spot. Requires 14 nights of data before insights unlock.

What is HealthKit wake verification?

An optional Premium feature: after you dismiss the alarm, WakeWin schedules a check ~30 minutes later that reads HealthKit for new asleep periods. If you crawled back into bed, it logs an unverified wake-up. It's part of the Perfect Month criteria when enabled.

Can I use WakeWin as my only alarm?

Yes — that's the intent. WakeWin supports multiple alarms, repeat schedules, and per-alarm settings. You don't need the built-in Clock app running alongside it. The AlarmKit foundation means it's as reliable as the built-in Clock.

Does WakeWin have a snooze?

Snooze is available but configurable per alarm and capped at one snooze maximum (by design — multiple snoozes fragment sleep). When global Hard Mode is on, snooze is disabled entirely. Premium users can also disable snooze on individual alarms.

What languages does WakeWin support?

14 languages: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Turkish, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Arabic (full RTL support), and Hindi.

Is there a web version of WakeWin?

No. WakeWin is an iOS app that needs device-level alarm permissions to work reliably. There's no web version.

Are radio stations and nature sounds for the alarm itself?

No — they play during the challenge phase only, as ambient audio while you solve puzzles. The actual wake-up alarm uses AlarmKit's reliable system sound. Live radio and nature sounds are there to make the puzzle phase pleasant once you're awake.

How does WakeWin handle privacy?

Photos taken for Photo Verify are never stored — they're sent to AI for verdict, then discarded. Sleep data stays in your account, not shared anywhere. Health data integration is read-only and revocable in iOS Settings. Our infrastructure runs on Supabase EU. We never sell data and never share it with advertisers. See /privacy for the full policy.

When does the Android version launch?

We don't have a public date yet. iOS is the priority right now because the AlarmKit foundation gives us the reliability we need. Android is on the roadmap. Join the waitlist on the home page to get notified.
