New in v1.1
The alarm that makes you take a photo to dismiss
Solving brain puzzles in bed isn't enough — you can still crawl back under the duvet the second the alarm stops. Photo Verify fixes that. After the puzzles, WakeWin asks you to take a photo of a specific household object — your toilet, your kitchen sink, your coffee maker. AI checks the photo. No object, no dismissal. You physically have to be out of bed.
How Photo Verify works
- 1
Solve your puzzles
Same as Hard Mode — 10 to 15 brain challenges, depending on settings.
- 2
Camera opens
A full-screen custom camera UI takes over. A big emoji and label at the top tell you what to photograph — for example, '🚽 toilet' or '☕ coffee maker'.
- 3
Walk to the object
You have to physically get to wherever that thing is. Walking is the point.
- 4
Tap the shutter
WakeWin's custom camera captures the photo. No iOS 'Use Photo / Retake' interruption — it just captures and verifies in the background.
- 5
AI verifies
Claude Haiku 4.5 Vision checks if the photo actually contains the object. Takes about a second.
- 6
Pass → dismiss. Fail → fresh object
If the AI doesn't see the object, you get a new one to photograph. Up to 3 tries. Camera stays open the whole time.
What you might be asked to photograph
Easy tier — straightforward household objects that exist in most homes:
Harder tier — requires walking further or more deliberate movement:
You can choose your tier in settings. Tiers can be expanded in future updates.
What about privacy?
Your photos are never stored. The image is sent for AI verification, the AI returns a yes/no verdict, and the image is discarded. Only the verdict (verified or not) is logged so we can track your Perfect Month progress.
The verification runs on Anthropic's Claude API — a privacy-respecting AI provider with explicit zero-retention contracts for our use case.
Why this is the missing piece
The fundamental problem with every alarm app — puzzle-based or otherwise — is that you can solve the puzzle without leaving the bed. The puzzle wakes your brain. It does not move your body. So the warmth wins, you sink back, and the day is already off-track.
Photo Verify breaks that. You have to actually be somewhere else in your home. By the time you've walked to the kitchen and photographed the kettle, you're standing up, blood is flowing, and going back to bed feels weird. That's the entire trick.
Availability
Photo Verify is a Premium feature available on iOS. When Hard Mode is enabled, Photo Verify is required automatically for every alarm.
